Greetings from an agility-holic! I’ve been playing agility since late 2019 and started competing in 2022. I am NOT a pro dog trainer and am NOT selling services of any kind other than cheap subscriptions to this Café publication. I’m an intermediate level handler with my first competitive agility dog, Olive.
Agility Geeks Café will be a space where beginner and intermediate handlers and even folks who never plan to compete, can share insights, learn from and support one another, and celebrate our dogs. The focus will be on the rewards of partnering with our canine friends in agility, lessons learned, cool experiences, and handling tips and skills as we gain them. For example, I’ll be sharing videos of runs in which I make mistakes because I find those to be the most useful in learning how to better support Olive.
Olive and I have just started attending some of the bigger events like the 2024 AKC nationals and hopefully the UKI West Coast Open this September and I’ll capture experiences and video of what those events are like so that others who haven’t yet attended can get a feel for it. For example, here’s a vid of what it was like being in the crowd for finals at the AKC nationals – huge energy. Some of you will also have great vids to share.
There’s a lot of agility content on the internet from trainers and big events but Agility Geeks Café fills a unique niche as a safe space for rookies to pros to share with one another what we love about this sport, humorous events, celebrations, and questions. I hope you’ll check it out and become be part of this community and conversation.
I’ll be posting about once a week including video and audio. There will also be interactive chat conversations. I hope some of you readers will share your posts, pics and vids as well.
Subscriptions are $5 per month or $54 for an entire year.
